Light and tide – Corbiere lighthouse, Jersey
An outing for the sunset at Corbiere lighthouse in Jersey during my holiday there recently. What looked promising an hour before sunset quickly disappeared as a bank of cloud rolled in on the horizon. All that was left was a slight orange glow of the sunset. I decided to concentrate my attention on the large boulders which were being uncovered by the receding tide. In the end I managed to get a couple of compositions that I liked, with the bonus of Corbiere lighthouse and the slight glow of the setting sun in the background.
Corbiere Glow
Another image from my trip to Jersey.
One of the mornings, I managed to drag myself out of bed for a sunrise. I decided to head for St Aubins but with about 15 minutes till sunrise, a bank of fog started moving in on St Aubins bay. I decided then to move location and revisit my favourite Jersey spot…Corbiere lighthouse. This shot was taken not long after sunrise. I waited for the sun to get above the hills behind me and light up the rocks with that early morning glow. The rocks are quite red anyway but the early light has really made them stand out.
Sunset at Corbiere
Another shot from Corbiere lighthouse. Loads of great opportunities for sunsets here make it a very photogenic and popular location.
Corbiere Lighthouse again
This shot is another from last years trip to Jersey. This is Corbiere lighthouse. Once the tide goes out you can walk along the causeway to the lighthouse. The receding tide leaves loads of interesting rock pools with lovely colours enclosed in its pools which make perfect foreground interest to contrast against the brilliant white of the lighthouse.
