Todays archive post is from 2006.  This is Lochan nah-Achlaise on Rannoch Moor.  Another well photographed location.  This show was taken on a cold February morning not long after sunrise.

Loch Tay

by admin on Feb.26, 2009, under Landscapes

Todays archive post is from Loch Tay in Perthshire.  We had spent a day out and about picutre taking and on the way back I spotted this small jetty sitting about 6 feet out into the water.  I went down towards it and waitied a short while till the wind had died down completely before capturing the shot.

Red Kites

by admin on Feb.24, 2009, under Wildlife

Yesterday saw me at Bellymack Hill Farm where I managed to get some shots of Red Kites.  These birds are an endangered species that was reintroduced to Dumfries & Galloway in 2001, and now numbers are starting to increase.

A bull on Lake Toho

by admin on Feb.24, 2009, under Landscapes

Todays archive post is from our trip to Florida in 2007.  This shot is taken from an airboat on Lake Tohopekaliga (or Toho for short).  It was a 100c day that day and the bull was cooling his nether regions in the Lake.

Sunrise

by admin on Feb.23, 2009, under Landscapes

Todays archive post is from Bamburgh.  I was on the beach to catch the sunrise at Bamburgh Castle when the sun started to rise through the clouds and gave this magnificent light show.  For 5 minutes or so the whole beach was bathed in this orange glow.

Sunset at Ardrossan

by admin on Feb.22, 2009, under Landscapes

A picture from last week.  I was sitting in my house watching the sun go down and decided to rush out and capture it. Time from my house to this location…less than 10 minutes. I was out, got the sunset, and back in the house all in under an hour. Never mind hanging around for the sunset like I usually do, everything was all a rush. It worked out OK in the end though.  This is taken from Ardrossan North Shore looking towards the Isle of Arran, the snow covered peaks are the remnants of last weeks snow.

Stob Dearg

by admin on Feb.22, 2009, under Landscapes

After yesterdays post of the classic Buachaille shot, I thought I would post one from the other direction.  This is a panorama taken from along Buachaille Etive Mor looking back towards Stob Dearg.  From this direction you can see why it is called Stob Dearg (gaelic for ‘Red Peak’)

Buachaille Waterfall

by admin on Feb.21, 2009, under Landscapes

Todays archive post is of Buachaille Etive Mor.  The mountain is really called  Stob Dearg.  Its the whole ridge thats called Buachaille Etive Mor, but Stob Dearg (gaelic for ‘Red Peak‘) ic commonly known as ‘The Buachaille’.  Now thats sorted out, this is probably the most photographed location in Glencoe.  Theres a well worn path to this spot, and place your tripod in the holes left by countless other tripods for the shot.  It doesn’t make it a bad shot, just a overused one.  In fact it’s part of a Scottish landscape photographers right of passage to recreate all the classic shots in Glencoe.
